E.R.C. Davidar Grant for conservation of endangered species.
E.R.C. Davidar, who is our inspiration, was trained as a lawyer but his fondness for nature drove him to conduct several important studies on the Nilgiri tahr, the Asian elephant, the striped hyena and the wild dog. Lately he and his children created the Sigur Nature Trust; a landed trust dedicated to preserving wildlife corridors in the Nilgiris.
In order to encourage field naturalists, students or amateurs, ECOS is setting-up a small-grant program and will provide a grant of Rs. 50,000- to students and amateur naturalists to pursue research projects that focus on the conservation of endangered species in India.
As ECOS is a small organization, only one grant will be available in 2009, but we hope to increase both the size and the number of grants with time.
Application Period: From 1 June to 30 June 2009, 6 pm.
Please download the Information for Applicants and Application Form available from 1 March 2009 on this page for further details.
